Peace……

It would be a wonderful world to live in if we could find some peace. Instead were all in this world where peace is just something we see in fleeting glimpses. Its a beautiful thought wrapped up in the nastiness of real life.

We, as a species have, most of the time looked forward to a future where our children can live in harmony. Most all people strive to improve the state of our world. Meantime, a few look back to the worse times and use them as justification for horrific acts they then label as necessary evils. They seem hell bent on making sure the rest of us know that no matter what happens they will never accept that times can be better than they are. It’s the old ” if i ain’t happy no body will get to be happy ” attitude….

I was reading earlier on yahoo where a Russian government official made sure to compare this “WAR ” to the Cuban missile crisis. I mean, really. 70 years ago. dam. I was also reading where part of the diffusing of the event was a secret agreement to remove missiles from Turkey. OK. maybe I can see that as being necessary back then. But to be fair to the timeline, 1962 was a different world. Nikita Khrushchev was the Russian president and we had just elected JFK into office. it was a world going through some growing pains. Khrushchev was trying to help open Russia up to the idea of joining the rest of the world in living better and having to balance being in control with the rest of his party’s personal wants and desires for power. Here in the U S President Kennedy was trying to be accepted as being serious about being the president, I have read stories that most of Washington wasn’t sure they wanted to work with him. I also read stories about how the loss of Senator Taft tore the RNC apart, creating a large vacuum in their power base and leadership. I’m sure that did not help anything in Washington at that period in time.

Now we have another big problem with not getting along with Russia. It appears that the war is not going well for them. The Ukrainian defense force Is putting up one hell of a fight. Way better than Putin had planed on. Russia wanted to claim immanent domain and just take all that land for itself. We can only guess why he wanted it so bad. But I can surmise it has something to do with his immanent demise and some sort of pride driven need to be remembered as a good leader and not just a crook. Now the problem is he never figured the rest of the world would join in the fight on the other side and he doesn’t know what to do. He’s tried threats, both outright and subtle, and economic terrorism with no results. In fact it has resulted in the opposite effect for sure. almost everybody has distanced themselves from him and his war. Even China, his closest ally appears to be distant and unmotivated to interfere and or assist in most ways.

So we come back to peace in a world with Putin in charge of mother Russia.

Is Peace Possible with current state of things. Possible. most defiantly. Is it probable. probably not. Peace requires compromise and that requires people to put their pride aside and deliberately work for that goal. Not for their own selfish reasons but for the good of all. So far that has not happened. So far its been about an individuals pride and power. Let that sink in. Pride and power.

Can we have peace. Its always possible.!

But right now, its not likely. !
